Taiwan Association of Family Medicine attended WONCA 2023 world conference in Sydney, met with GPs from around the world, demonstrated Taiwan’s medical capability and increased international visibility.

Director General David Cheng-Wei Wu was honoured to join the “Friendship Night” hosted by the delegation and expressed the heartfelt gratitude for their long-term support of ??Taiwan’s participation in the international arena. The newly elected President of WONCA Karen Flegg, former president ??Anna Stavdal, CEO Harris Lygidakis, Executive of World WONCA Viviana Martinez Bianchi were invited to join the dinner along with delegates from other countries. It was a pleasant night filled with laugh and love.

At the closing/award ceremony of WONCA 2023 world conference, Taiwanese Legislator Dr. Tai Yuan Chiu was awarded “Honorary Life Direct Individual Member”. Dr. Chiu was the first Taiwanese doctor to receive this prestigious award, which means the medical achievement of Taiwan has been recognized by international society. DG Wu greeted Dr. Chiu at Sydney airport, congratulated him on the award and expressed great appreciation for his long term contribution of Taiwan’s participation in international arena.

Another good news at the ceremony is the Director of Taiwan Association of Family Medicine, Mr. Bih-Jeng Chang officially assumed his position of WONCA APR President. What a achievement of Taiwan.
