Following a series of donations of 163 wheelchairs to the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital (RIPAS) and other three public hospitals, Pusat Ehsan, KACA, and Chinese schools in the last two years, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brunei Darussalam, partnering with Taiwan Business Association and Taiwan graduates Association of Brunei, has donated 3 Taiwan-made wheelchairs to Lotus Light Charity Society on 9 March, 2022. These wheelchairs were presented to Mr. Yeo Tiong Lok, Chairman of Lotus Light Charity Society, by Representative Andrew H.C. Lee.

Inspired by the commonly shared value and faith, and cultural tradition of generosity and sharing between Taiwan and Brunei, together with the Associations we are thrilled to be at the forefront of charity works and facilitating benevolent actions to fund the wheelchairs. Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Taiwan graduates Association and Taiwan Business Association had previously collected 174 wheelchairs in total. This concerted effort fully demonstrates the friendship of the people from Taiwan as well as the corporate social responsibility practiced by entrepreneurs affiliated with the Associations.

Taiwan has a long history of humanitarianism and Taiwan is well-positioned to repay its debt to the international community by sharing experiences and resources with friendly countries. Given the continuous spread of COVID-19, and to join the Brunei government-led combat against the pandemic, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office has collaborated with the related associations to conduct these charity donation activities. These donations are indeed a testament to the spirit and value of "Taiwan can help, Taiwan is helping", and will be serving as a catalyst to further enhance existing bilateral relationship between Taiwan and Brunei.

Lotus Light Charity Society was established in 2010. Over the past 12 years, it has provided food relief and medical assistance to those who in need in remote areas across the country, and neighboring countries such as Thailand, Cambodia.
